WHY WE JOINED

Equual Access
Policy Committee

The Policy Committee reviews and analyzes existing policies and procedures. The Committee also recommends new policies and procedures to facilitate the full participation of all people with disabilities within our faith community as well as the larger world community.

The Rev. Barbara Meyers chair of the Policy Committee

Upon request, the Policy Committee looks at the current policies and procedures of the Unitarian Universalist Association, both formal and informal, to assess if and how they exclude the equal participation of people with disabilities.

The Policy Committee also responds to questions and concerns from people across the Association about policies and procedures in Congregations and Districts.

While it is not the intention of any Unitarian Universalist policy to exclude people with disabilities from participating in Congregational and Associational life, there may be a lack of policies that specify anti-ablest practices. For example ADA compliance may not be required but it may be met as a matter of policy.

If you have any questions about work of the Equual Access Policy Committee, including how to become a member of it, please click here to email the Rev. Barbara Meyers.
