WHY WE JOINED

Equual Access
Right Relations Committee

The Right Relations Committee of EqUUal Access serves as a resource for Unitarian Universalists who wish to improve accessibility in the UUA, its member congregations, and other UU-related organizations. EqUUal Access advocates the elimination of physical, attitudinal, and programmatic barriers to full participation by people with disabilities. The Right Relations Committee encourages constructive ways of dealing with institutional and interpersonal difficulties, which arise as people attempt to gain equal access.

To implement this mandate the Committee establishes procedures and guidelines that promote positive communication in addressing such matters.

If someone with a disability has been unable to obtain equal access in her/his faith community, the individual is invited to contact the Committee about this concern.

Suggestions for Positive Communication and Constructive Negotiation: A document with suggestions for Positive Communication and Constructive Negotiation from the Right Relations Committee of Equual Access is now available. The purpose of this document is to give you some communication tools to use when you are attempting to increase access and inclusion for persons with disabilities, and you seem to be encountering resistance.
